Tiling!

Well the last three days mainly have been filled with tiling the Pantry which although only a smallish area, it was awkward and quite amusing watching Andrew trying to tile himself into small corners! We also had a load of wood delivered on Friday so that took us a morning to stack, I can now see why it took Andrew a whole day to do on his own! With an also essensial trip to the shops it took us three days to finish. We just have to do the grouting today which shouldn't take to long hopefully!

Under attack!

It's been a few quiet days but there was some excitement when we had an invasion of darleks in the back paddock! We are hoping to start laying the tiles in the pantry tomorrow now the paint on the walls has finally dried!
We also managed to get a coat of paint on the stables before the rain came back again after a weekof sunshine!

Aching and bruised!

The last few days have been hard work and tiring as we cleaned out the ditch alongside the track which had years of mud and debris in it...lots of plastic bags and quite a few broken bottles and pottery nothing we could date the last time it was cleaned out but we are guessing quite a few years leaving us after 3 days of moving mud aching and bruised although the sun shone on us so at least it was pleasant in some respects!

Today we painted the stables, well the wooden bits which there were quite a few!

Mountain Climbing

As usual last few days have been busy! Saturday morning was spent putting muck in the third veg plot then a nice surprise a text from my sister and her boyfriend to say they could come and see us for sat evening and Sunday. We had already decided we was going to take a day out from working on Sunday and go for a walk so now we had an excuse to do so as well!

Sunday we went for a walk to Tifi Pools, well one of them anyway, and the sun also decided to come out so good day had by all, even though some were distracted by frog sporn..don't ask!

Today Andrew had to go to London so I spent the day clearing more mud from the yard so a little bit sore and aching now!

Finally this morning I had to take this photo of this aspiring mountain climber!

Plants and paint!

The last few days we have been busy inside and out, the water butts we ordered arrived and Andrew has set up 3 of them yesterday and today, just one more to do tomorrow (although we expect them to fill very quickly!) I spent some of the day clearing more mud off the yard and entrance but still have a fair bit to clear.

This morning we had a few of our radiators shrunk as had to much water in the system and whilst Andrew was helping out with the rads I planted a few more seed trays, tomatoes, parsnips, cabbages, carrots, onions, peppers and radishes! This afternoon we put the first coat of paint in the hall and stairwell..soon all the painting in the house will be finished.

Finally still waiting for daffs to flower outside, as we have so many outside in bud I cut a few and put some in a vase so now at least we have some flowering!

Painting and stripping!

Well this morning was spent putting a second layer of paint in the pantry so hopefully we will tackle the floor in a few days time once it is all dry! Dinner break was interrupted with the delivery of two water butts, two more to arrive tomorrow!
This afternoon, as it was fairly dry outside, was spent clearing the ditch by the stables which was full of lovely smelling muck and mud! I was worried I was digging too deep but as I was scraping the last layer back I found a large old rusty nail and a horse shoe so looks like I got it just right and found the original level of the ditch! It may not look much but I took away about 7 full wheel barrows of mud and muck and still have to finish the top section!

A view

A bit of sun came out so I took this from behind the house, due to keeping the size down the quality isn't the best but gives a good idea of our surroundings!

What's the weather?

Well been busyish over the last few days, the weather has been a bit grotty with an odd bit of sunshine! Just perfect timing for us to put up our weather station which has been sitting in a box for quite a few months! Does mean we can monitor the weather, more a long term thing but can see what it's like without going outside!
As the weather was rainy we got another layer of paint on the pantry walls which may not sound that exciting but it's one more step towards getting a kitchen back as we need to do the pantry floor before the kitchen floor, then I may get to wash up in a sink rather than in a bowl on a table! (Can't put the sink in until the floor is done!)

Wood!

Well today mostly consisted of cutting wood! The Rayburn needs smaller lenghts of wood than the 1st two loads we had delivered so we have had to cut it to the right lenghts, well mainly Andrew did the cutting, I just fed him the logs! We also cleared a few standing dead trees and cut them ready to season as wood is our main fuel we need lots (Does our water, heating and cooking!)

Talking of cooking tonight we will be having a nice bit of gammon from a local pig farmer, you can tell the difference from supermarket meat, his sausages are also very yummy and exelent quality! He also delivers to the door which where we live is a bonus!

Snowdaffs!

Not quite as sunny this morning but still an ok day for working outside so we took the top off the final veg patch, all we need to do now is fill it with muck! After a quick lunch break we went down to check the post and collect Andrews new toy...a chainsaw, albeit a small one! Fortunately it isn't Halloween so no massacre, well maybe for the wood he was cutting!!

It may have been St Davids day last Sunday but still no daffodils but though plenty of snowdrops!!

Good Day!

Well the day started very sunny so we decided to go up to the field and finish putting muck (from the previous owners muck pile!) into the second raised veg plot which we managed to finish. The whilst we were putting some stones down for a path way between the beds I got a phone message (due to very poor reception a day late!!) to say they were offering me the job I had applied for so all in all a very good day at PYG.

Made it!

Well made it here! I'm a few days late writing for two reasons...one getting my computer set up and being destracted by preparing for my interview which I had today, (as with all the interviews I have been to come out thinking I wish I had said....) Anyway I will have to wait and see so will be trying to distract myself in the next week or so whilst waiting to hear!

As far as PYG (Pant y Gourych) is concerned i'm happy to report now we also have carrots and onions starting to appear! It looks like it was dry whilst we were away but now it's raining so I'm staying in the dry whilst Andrew is doing his daily chore of cutting wood (the first batch are too long for the rayburn so he is having to cut every log to size...there are alot of logs!!
